Pastor Chepulis at Redeemer

I have been to several LWML Rallies and a prayer service over the last two weeks and the themes were very consistent.  All of the rallies and the prayer service had to do with worries and anxiety and fear and turning these things over to God.  The Rally in Grand Forks hosted by Redeemer Lutheran Church had to do with “Joy”.  It was a nice day.  Devotions led by Pastor Laue Redeemer Pastor, and also Pastor over at First Lutheran in East Grand Forks, Bible Study on the “Joy of Worship” by Pastor Chepulis up in Cavalier and the speaker was Heidi Sais from Montana who spoke about Christian Joy.

So what is going on here?  Well this morning in the endless discussion about the suicide of Junior Seau, former linebacker for the San Diego Chargers it was revealed on sports talk radio that 1 out of 4 of us takes some kind of anti-depressant or anti anxiety drug.  1 out of every 3 commercials on TV has to do with education to help us sleep.  The conversations this morning were about depression and whether concussions caused depression and hence, suicide etc.  I guess there is a lot of issues out there that take away our joy.  I appreciated the explanation that happiness and Christian joy are different things.

Returning the joy of our salvation is something that we need to rely upon the Holy Spirit to accomplish for us each day as we remember our baptism.  At least that is a start.  More on this later.. Here are some pictures.
