CURMUDGEON – a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man. — cur·mud·geon·li·ness \-lē-nəs\ noun. — cur·mud·geon·ly \-lē\ adjective.

I am getting to be a curmudgeon.  I find myself thinking to myself that I am like my wife’s Grandfather.  One of the objects of a curmudgeon’s ire is usually the young.  The way they dress, eat, the nonsense that they think is music etc; all add up to the curmudgeonly view that “youth is wasted on the young”.  About the time that I have these uncharitable thoughts something happens to make me repent.  I got this email the other day from Pat Sebastian – one of the heads of the Youth organization for the North Dakota Disitrict –

This morning I mailed a $473.35 donation to LCMS World Relief & Human Care to be used for Project 24.

The middle school students from Bethel, Bismarck, designated Lent supper proceeds and high school students hosted refreshments and a free-will bake sale after worship on August 21, to make the enclosed donation.

Much of the credit for this donation goes to Eli Voigt who returned from the LYF Gathering “on fire” to do something for Project 24.

I remember Eli from the gathering.  He was wearing a suit.  Hard to be curmudgeonly about that or the gift either.  Thanks very much.
