We are going to introduce you to those who are going on the trip in June over the next few weeks.  Please make sure that if you applied and were not chosen that you understand that you will be considered for the next trip in January of 2013 and the one in June of 2013 etc.  We just need to replenish the Mary Okeyo fund.  If you as an individual, or if you have a group out there that can help it would be appreciated greatly.  Congregations in the North Dakota District are encouraged to support this travel fund as well.  So our first introduction –

Hello! My name is Candice Bicondoa. I am a 28 year old from central Minnesota. I currently teach fifth grade at Prince of Peace Lutheran School in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. I’ve taught in Lutheran schools for the past six years. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Saint Paul in 2006. In 2009, I graduated from Concordia with my Master’s in Education. I’ve always had a great passion for teaching and I can’t wait to see how the Lord will continue to use me in this field.

I’ve lived much of my life in Minnesota but I have also lived in California, Washington, and Florida. Most of my immediate family lives in Minnesota so I am happy to be back in the Midwest! I have two younger siblings, a brother and sister, and one nephew. Family is very important to me and you’ll find me spending time with them whenever I can. My nephew brings so much joy to my life and I often can’t stop talking about him!

My career consumes a great deal of my time but I do try and balance my life outside of school with things I enjoy. In addition to spending time with my family, I love to read. I also love to watch movies and play card games. Last year I began taking piano lessons as well. You can also find me at many concerts of Christian artists.

Every summer the faculty at Prince of Peace chooses a theme for the next school year. This year our theme is “Growing to Serve the Lord.” How fitting this is considering where God is leading me this summer. I feel truly blessed and honored that God has placed this opportunity in my life and has chosen me to join others in serving Him and His people in Kenya.
