The gift of life here on this earth was given to Lucia Ann (Hatton) Jording on September 29, 1936 in Danville, Illinois, as the daughter of Charles Elmer and Orlena Jane (Melton) Hatton. Recognizing the need to care for her spiritual life as well as her physical well-being, her parents saw to it that she became a Child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism performed by Rev. J.O. Ferris of First Congregational Church in Danville, Illinois on November 5, 1936. She confirmed her faith on October 5, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danville, Illinois.

Lucia’s education started in elementary schools in Danville, IL. She attended and graduated from Danville High School in 1954. She received her nursing degree from Washington University School of Nursing, St. Louis, MO; graduating in 1957.

As a nurse, Lucia had a variety of work experiences – from hospitals to nursing homes, to county health, to psychiatric wards.

On November 2, 1958 Lucia was united in marriage to Howard Jording at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danville, IL. Their union was blessed with two daughters and two sons. The couple lived in various communities in Illinois, Wisconsin & North Dakota.

Preceding her in death were her husband; Howard, her parents, an infant daughter, her son; Justin, grandson; Caleb Reinke; brothers; John & Carl Hatton.

Left to join her later on through faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are her daughter: Dacia (John) Reinke, Sun Prairie, WI, son: Timothy Jording, Oacoma, SD, grandchildren: Joshua (Tristin) Reinke, McGregor, MN and Joseph Reinke, Barnesville, MN, Sister: Mary Belle Luton, Avon Lake, OH, Brother & Sister-in-Law: Victor (Bertha) Jording, Hankinson, ND.

Lucia Hatton Jording was given the gift of everlasting life on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Palliative Care, Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson, ND with Pastor Adam Moline officiating and burial will be in the Secor Cemetery, Secor, IL on Friday September 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson, ND. Pallbearers will be her family.
