I was thinking about the “Little Drummer Boy” and that made me think of my favorite drummers.  I have always been fascinated with drummers.  Gene Krupa was amazing,  Ringo wasn’t flashy but he was steady.  Stewart Copeland was very good but he is probably a better composer than he was a drummer.  Charlie Watts was steady too but he always looked like he was trying to keep a secret.  And perhaps the drummer with the best name is Billy Drummond.  That led me to….

What are some names or titles for Christ in Bible? I asked my Google – here they are – don’t get bored – try to follow along so you don’t miss the most important one.

Pretty impressive.  I’m trying to think if there are any missing.  I believe that somewhere he is called “our Sabbath Rest” and “our peace” but that is nit picking.  The big one is “Jesus,  Savior”.  Without that one the rest are meaningless.

In 2004 I was messing with drum sets on the Trinity electric piano and this popped out – fitting for the Sunday we call ” the Circumcision and Naming of Jesus and New Year’s Day. These two combine in a complimentary way, inspiring the theme, “A Time for Beginnings.” The infant Jesus begins the suffering that will be a continuing part of His life and saving ministry as He undergoes circumcision according to the Law. The New Year begins with the assurance that we will be embraced continuously by His abiding presence, grace, and forgiveness. It is a time to “rejoice the old—and embrace the new.”  (Creative Worship for the Lutheran Parish .  Copyright (c) 2011 Concordia Publishing House.)

Anyway here it is – I wrote it in November of 2004 – “Call Him Jesus”.
