You will be hearing a lot about “Project 24” on this site.  It is a program to build 24 orphan rescue centers in Kenya – serveral are up and more are planned.  We are hoping that the North Dakota District and the Minnesota North District of the LCMS will each adopt one center and build it and then send North Dakotans and Minnesotans there to work and learn and share.  This is a story about the first center.  When it was being built the plan was to use furniture from the Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Kisumu vocation school.. When local officials objected  the Ukunda tree was cut down by hand and turned into furniture as you will see.  The ingenuity and hard work of these amazing people always humbles me.

Ukunda Tree

this huge tree became bunk beds

Will send more on this amazing story later.
