Some of the Decorations at the Convention

 

“With Jesus…Right Where You Are” from Micah 4:2,5 was the theme of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League North Dakota District Convention June 24-26.  Pastor Fenske of Grand Forks led the convention in God’s Word, miost of the business focussed on the mission of the Church, there was wonderful fellowship and beautiful decorations Zion LWML of Grafton did the decorating and I have to admit, it was pretty nice.  Congratulations and God’s blessings to the newly elected offices:  Paulette Huber, president; Nikki Tyrrell, VP-mission grants; Chantel Zeller, VP-human care; Crystal Voth, VP-communications; Avonne Gessner, treasurer; Geneal Roth, nominating chair; Rev. Tim Jenks, pastoral counselor.

The Mite Goal and Mission Grants chosen by these  women for the 2012-2014 biennium.  (1) $35,000 for ND full-time Church Workers Scholarships, (2) $7,500 for ND Orphan Grain Train, (3) $5,000 to Project 24-Orphanages in Kenya, (4) $5,000 for Minot Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch-Restoring Security for His Children, (5) $5,000 for Women’s and Children’s Shelter at Standing Rock, (6) $2,000 for Carolyn Walsh, Lutheran Bible Translator Missionary to Botswana, Africa, (7) $5,000 to Christ the Way Radio Ministry, (8) $2,850 for Martin Luther School Tuition Assistance, (9) $650 Veterans of the Cross.  This is a grand total of $68,000!  This is pretty amazing stuff when you remember that most of this is done by the mite box.
